THROWBACK THURSDAY: CESKY KRUMLOV 2010
Where has the time gone? Already eight years ago, Tomas Hora invited some second generation pilots to the town of Kajov in Czech Republic for a nice little balloon event – and it was one of the most beautiful and adventurous meetings we’ve ever been to! Not only did we do four balloon flights, we also visited the Lipno power plant, the town of Cesky Krumlov with its beautiful castle, went rafting on the Vltava river and had a nice village festival at the launch site at Kajov.
Ballooning there was quite an adventure: A lot of forests, wide fields, but almost no roads! Tracks were not an option, as it had been raining the whole week before, but despite all that, the flights were amazingly enjoyable – I remember one morning flight over Cesky Krumlov, taking off near the castle and then hovering over town where the morning mist just disappeared… simply stunning.
It was also this very weekend when I decided that I was finally fed up with borrowing a balloon all the time… and if you look closely at the pictures of the colourful little Swiss balloon, you might recognise the tiny Raven Aerostar Aurora basket I bought as my second balloon five years later.
So, THANK YOU Tomas for this awesome experience! I guess we need to organise another second generation balloon meeting sometime soon… ;-)
