ANOTHER CZECH MEETING
We’ve just returned from an unexpectedly nice weekend at the Slapy Balloon Fiesta in Chotilsko, Czech Republic! Although the forecast was quite pessimistic, the weather allowed two beautiful flights over the Vltava region south of Prague.
After the Friday morning flight had to be cancelled due to rain showers (a welcome opportunity to catch some extra sleep), Friday afternoon proved to be better, and so we took off near Jablonna for a nice JDG task – the funny side being that no electronics were allowed, and the little paper map we had been given in our pilot packs unfortunately ended right where we took off! :-D
However, we almost made it to the target, but winds were a bit too slow, so we decided for a safe landing at sunset instead of finishing the task. Great fun nevertheless!
Saturday morning brought another chance to fly: A hare and hounds was announced, with our good friend Tomas in his Padelt Experimental being the hare. As you can see in the pictures, we were quite good… almost too good (I already saw myself sitting at the sewing machine)! :-)
Thank you Richard Gratz & team from www.letybalonem.eu for a perfect organisation, Kubicek Balloons for their ongoing support and of course Thomas Köck from Kubicek Balloons Deutschland for lending us the wonderful BB20E D-OTBJ! We will return to Slapy one day, that is for sure… ;-)
