NO CHASE CREW IS NO EXCUSE
After we had had a lot of rain in springtime in our home region, we were thrilled to fly there again – our last flight there dated back to February!
So, we had the time, the balloon and the weather… but no retrieve! What to do? Luckily, the cool morning drainage flow from the mountains had an opposite wind direction predicted at 6000 feet, and so we strapped our bicycle to the basket, locked the car and took off.
Carefully monitoring the present wind directions on our way up, we estimated which altitudes we would have to fly on the way down to make our cycle trip back to the launchsite as short as possible. What can I say… we didn’t even need the bike, landing on the launch field again after almost two hours, just 50 meters from the point where we had taken of. What a deal! =)
