The fabulous indian summer weather of the past days has just been perfect for ballooning – and so, I finally managed to do my examination flight for my gas balloon license. The sun was so hot that I even had to wear my scarf as a bandana! :-D After two hours and 35 minutes, we [...]
This weekend, we had a fabulous time with the Balloon Club of Augsburg: They had invited us to their gasballoon friendship flight, and after we had waited for quite some time for the morning mist to disappear, the crews enjoyed a wonderful flight over the autumn landscape towards the city of Nördlingen. [...]
The GermanCup 2017 is on! :-) Almost all teams have arrived and already had a nice welcome evening at the ‘Gasometer’ at Pforzheim. For the first flight on Friday morning, our story will be featured in the local newspaper of Pforzheim – and you can already read it online here! ;-) [...]
Only four more days to go until the 11th International GermanCup at my hometown Pforzheim, the very event I saw a hot air balloon for the first time in my life, 31 years ago. And oh how much has changed since then! :-) Thank you Wolfgang Trautz and GT Ballonfahrten for not giving up and [...]
The Gordon Bennett Race 2017 is over! All teams are safely on the ground. The last two hours have been a nervewrecking thriller, first trying to keep ESP-1 on track to the gate to Lithuania, then aborting the flight due to thunderstorm activity in the area and getting them down safely. What an incredible adventure! [...]
Night is setting in and after 24 hours into the race, many teams have decided to land. We are monitoring everything closely from our Command Center at Stuttgart. At the moment, nine balloons remain in the air and will most likely fly until the morning. Our team USA-2 has landed safely near Haynau, Poland. Congrats [...]
After a looong day of preparations, the teams are finally airborne! It was a magnificent scenery on the airfield at Epagny when one gas balloon after the other ascended in the setting sun… and we were completely overwhelmed by the massive crowd of spectators who had come to see the launch! [...]
The passion of a lifetime: To behold the stunning beauty of our world like no one else, free like a bird, high in the sky, yet one with nature, using the oldest principle of flight known to man: Lighter than air.
No wings, no noise, no pressure… just serenity, just perfect bliss. At one with the elements… at one with yourself.
This is why we live A LIFE OF BALLOONING.
