It is the oldest and most prestigious air race in the world: The Coupe Aéronautique de Gordon Bennett, founded by millionaire sportsman and owner of the New York Herald newspaper, James Gordon Bennett Jr., in 1906. The rules are simple: Fly the furthest distance from launch to landing point in a non-powered gas balloon.
This year, the launch is set for Friday evening, 19.30 CET, south of Lac de La Gruyère in Switzerland. 22 teams from all over the world are participating, and we are proud to support three of them in terms of meteorology and ATC! :-)
