OVER MUNICH WITH TEAM ROCKET

Are you familiar with the mobile game “Pokémon GO”? It’s one of the first (and certainly the most famous) mobile games that blends reality and virtuality, letting you hunt virtual monsters (Pokémons) in the real world. Team Rocket, kind of the antagonists in the game, try to steal back the Pokémons from the players.

To blend the two worlds even more, developer Niantic decided in 2019 to have Team Rocket travel in hot air balloons – and have a real hot air balloon to promote the in-game event. The weather couldn’t have been better for the kick-off in Munich! Six of six flights over the Bavarian capital, including three crossings from west to east, brought tremendous fun to the two balloon teams – one piloting the Team Rocket balloon, the second one accompanying it to take the pictures.
