Today’s morning flight was just wonderful once more! Low temperatures allowed us to fly two up, and so we had plenty of time playing around with our multimedia equipment ;) Retrieve was lots of fun as well – after we had left our car at the launch site, we loaded our gear on the Landrover [...]

Our evening flight at Nefta turned out to be quite funny! With westerly winds predicted, we soon discovered that there was no real direction at all… so the distance covered was minimal, but we both had the chance to fly, and the views were nevertheless amazing…   [...]

Tonight was the first night glow of our trip, which took place in the sport stadium of Tozeur. With seventeen balloons present, we decided to spare our strength for the following glows and just enjoy the spectacle ;-) [...]

This afternoon, we left our hotel at Douz and travelled over the great salt lake “Chott El Jerid” to Tozeur. On a safe dam, that is – legends go that in the 14th century, a complete caravan with over 1000 animals and their cameleers disappeared there. [...]

This morning, we finally took to the skies over Tunisia! :-) After the last rain showers had disappeared, we took off south of Kebili and flew in a south-westerly direction towards Douz. What an amazing view! [...]

The afternoon we spent at the music festival in Kebili, but unfortunately the winds were too strong for the intended night glow. So we headed back to the hotel where we will spend the evening. Next briefing: tomorrow morning, 5:30. We’ll see… :) [...]

Enjoying our first day at Hotel Sun Palm in Douz! We’ve already done the refuelling and are now chilling at the pool, waiting for the general briefing. Rumours say that there will be a night glow in the evening – but we’ll see… ;-) [...]

It was a looong crazy trip all across Tunisia, but we have finally arrived at the Sun Palm Hotel in Douz. Refuelling is set for noon, so no morning flight – a very welcome opportunity to catch some well deserved sleep ;-) [...]

The balloonists’ caravan is moving on towards the city of Douz, the ‘Gate to the Sahara’, south east of the great salt lakes. There we will spend the night, refuel our cylinders… and maybe even fly tomorrow! :D [...]
